MEDFORD, MA (May 14, 2026) -- The Tufts University men's rowing squad was honored with two student-athletes on the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) squads announced Thursday, as
Peter Conard and
Theo Balavoine were selected from the Jumbos.
Conard is a repeat honoree on the All-NESCAC First Team, while Balavoine was picked to the Second Team.
Both Conard and Balavoine have been part of the Top Five ranked first varsity boat for the Jumbos, as Conard has sat in the engine room for the majority of the season while Balavoine sitting as part of the bow pair in seat two.
The Jumbos earned third place in a very tight Points Trophy competition, which is awarded for the best overall success at the NIRC. Wesleyan University and Trinity College tied for first in points at 192, with Tufts a close third at 191 points. The Jumbos also earned a varsity four victory today, which does not count in the points standings.
The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship was contested last Sunday, as part of the first varsity competition. In an all-NESCAC 1V8 grand final, the Jumbos were fourth behind 2026 conference champion Wesleyan University, runner-up Trinity College and third-place Williams College.
For the fifth year in a row, the Tufts University men's rowing team has earned an at-large berth into the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Division III National Championship Regatta coming up May 29–30 at Lake Natoma in Gold River, California.
