Men's Tennis Wins Eighth Straight Match

MEDFORD, MA (April 12, 2025) - Looking to extend their seven match win streak, the No. 2 Tufts men's tennis team took on the No. 15 Wesleyan Cardinals in Medford earlier this afternoon. The Jumbos have won the previous five matchups against the Cardinals, shutting them out 5-0 in last year's New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) semifinals.

No. 1 doubles pair Vuk Vuksanovic and Javier Gonzalez were even at 3-3 with Max Litton and Harrison Collomb before pulling away and taking the set 6-3. At No. 3, Nicolas Tremblay and Sacha Maes prevailed 6-2 over Jex Frankel and Max Lustgarten in what was a much needed victory to secure the doubles point. Derin Acarglou and Lachie Macintosh had a little trouble at the No. 2 spot losing 6-4 to Brett Keeling and Chase Kasday after their serve was broken early in the match.

In his usual fashion, Vuksanovic came out of the gate firing, using his powerful serve to dominate Collomb and take the first set at No. 1.The second set was just as dominant, as the senior rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

At No. 4, Macintosh put on an absolute clinic against Keeling, taking the first set 6-2. His net play in the second set proved to be a powerful catalyst for closing out the match in dominant fashion, sealing a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

No. 6 singles saw freshman Stavros Mastrogamvrakis play Tai Macdonald. Mastrogamvrakis continued to prove his value in the singles lineup with his straight set victory this afternoon. He won the first set 6-3 and continued on with the dominant performance taking the second set 6-4.

No. 3 Acarglou improved upon his singles record for the season moving to 8-2 following his win today over Litton. Acarglou took the first set 6-3 and delivered a much needed break in the second to take the second 7-5.

Andrej Djokic came in at No. 5 to deliver another point for the Bo's. Djokic won nine straight games to start the match, carrying himself to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Kasday.

Gonzalez was the last to finish at No. 2 against Lustgarten. After dropping the first set 6-1, he rebounded with a 6-4 win and took the match with a 10-7 victory in the tiebreak.

Today was another impressive showing from the Jumbos as they dominated both singles and doubles and won their eighth straight match. Tomorrow at 1 p.m. they will take on the No. 27 Williams Ephs as they look to remain unbeaten in NESCAC play.
