CRANSTON, RI (April 19, 2025) – The Tufts University coed sailing team sits ninth out of 17 teams at the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Fleet Racing Championship which started today.

Hosted by Brown University, eight races were held in A and B divisions on Saturday. Tufts had scores of 66 in A and 53 in B for a 119 total.

The B Jumbos – sophomore skipper Kurt Stuebe with senior crew Naomi Pedersen – scored a very good sixth in the division. They had four Top 5 finishes out of their seven races today, including a second in the third race.

The Tufts A team was junior skipper Ben Mueller with first-year Kate Castleberry as crew for the first through fourth races and sophomore Cody Lamoreux as crew for the fifth through eighth starts. They are eighth in A's, after winning a head-to-head tie-breaker over Connecticut College.

Harvard University leads the regatta with a 31-32-63 scoring line.

The NEISA champion will receive the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl as winners and also earn an automatic berth into the Intercollegiate Sailing Association National Fleet Race Championship coming up in May. Other teams can receive at-large berths to the national championship, which will be announced on April 29.

Sunday's second day of the NEISA Open Fleet Race Championship is scheduled to start at 9:30 AM.
