Tufts is one of 16 teams that will compete for the Walter C. Wood Trophy at Brown University's Ted Turner '60 Sailing Pavilion at the Edgewood Yacht Club in Cranston, Rhode Island. The Jumbos earned one of 10 at-large berths into the Championship, and they joined six conference championship teams. Racing will begin at 10 AM each day.

The Championship format is scheduled to start with Stage 1, a round robin of all 16 teams. Stage 2 will be a round robin of the top eight teams from Stage 1. Finally, Stage 3 will be a round robin of the top 4 teams from Stage 2. The format could be altered if necessary due to weather conditions. The team with the best record at the end of the event will be declared national champion.

The three starting skippers for Tufts will be sophomore Wyatt Bischoff, junior Ben Mueller and sophomore Kurt Stuebe. Either first-year Kate Castleberry or sophomore Cody Lamoreux will start at crew for Mueller, senior Naomi Pedersen will be Stuebe's crew and senior Cindy Wang will crew for Bischoff. The alternate skippers for Tufts will be seniors Adrien Bellanger and John Eastman. Sophomore Courtland Doyle will travel as an alternate skipper and crew, while senior Nicolas Echarte and sophomore Sean Beaver will be crew alternates.

This is the fifth straight year that Tufts has qualified for the College Sailing Team Race Nationals. Tufts was 12th at the ICSA Team Race Open Championship last year, with Mueller starting all 15 races in which the Jumbos competed. Bischoff and Stuebe also made starts at skipper. Wang also had starts at crew. The 2023 Jumbos were 13th at the team race national regatta, with Mueller contributing. In its history, Tufts has won six team racing national titles, but not since 1996.
