CAMBRIDGE, MA (April 5) - The Tufts University coed sailing team had a good day on the Charles River Saturday and stands a strong fourth out of 12 teams overall at the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Team Racing Championship, otherwise known as the Fowle Trophy.
A round-robin was competed among the 12 teams on Saturday and Tufts compiled a 7-4 record. They trail only first-place Harvard University (10-1), second-place Yale University (10-1) and third-place Roger Williams University (8-3).
The Jumbos will advance to Round 2 on Sunday, which will be a round-robin of the top eight or six teams from Round 1 depending on time and conditions. A potential Round 3 of the regatta will then break down into a round-robin of the top six or four teams after Round 2, again counting on time and conditions.Â
In Round 1 on Saturday, the Jumbos defeated Boston College, Bowdoin College, Boston University, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Dartmouth College, MIT and the University of Rhode Island. The losses were to Brown University, Harvard, Roger Williams and Yale.

The  winner of the NEISA Team Racing regatta will earn an automatic berth into Intercollegiate Sailing Association National Team Racing Championship coming up April 24-26 at Brown University. Other high-finishing teams can be selected for at-large berths into Nationals which will be announced later this month.
Tomorrow's action is set to begin at 10:00 AM.
