MEDFORD, MA (May 11, 2025) -- The top-ranked Tufts University men's lacrosse teams outscored visiting St. Lawrence University 5-0 in the first quarter, and fended off multiple rallies from the Saints to earn a 14-8 win in the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament Third Round in action from Bello Field Sunday.
With the victory, the Jumbos (20-0) will take on No. 7 Gettysburg College in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Bello Field at a time to be determined next Saturday afternoon. The Bullets defeated Washington & Lee University in their Third Round game to earn the trip to Medford next weekend. Tufts' win was its 25th straight overall dating back to the NCAA Tournament last season, and extended the program-best win streak.
Both teams were unable to get much going in the early stages of the game Sunday thanks to stellar play from the team's goalkeepers, but Tufts would break the ice at the 7:21 mark of the first quarter after
Jack Regnery scooped up a loose ball and finished behind his back to make it 1-0. Four minutes later, senior
Louis Timmins tallied his third goal of the season off of a Regnery feed to double the Jumbos' lead.
Only 34 seconds later, senior
Max Ettinghausen netted his 50th goal of the season to make it 3-0 and sophomore Will Ensing stung the netting with a rocket just 54 seconds later to make it 4-0. The scoring would finish in the frame for the Jumbos with
Charlie Tagliaferri's 28th of the season with only eight seconds to go in the period to make it 5-0.
St. Lawrence (14-7) came back strong in the second quarter with a 3-1 edge in the frame, making it a three-goal game at 6-3 just before half on a Jamie Rosenzweig goal.
The Saints made it a two-goal game 46 seconds into the second half on a David Herlihy score, but goals from Tagliaferri and Regnery netted goals to push the Tufts' edge back up to four with 8:33 to go in the third. St. Lawrence added two more before the end of the period to make it 9-6 Tufts going to the fourth.
Tufts would get the opening two scores of the fourth quarter, as Emsing netted another and Regnery scored man-down to push Tufts' lead back up to five with 9:04 remaining. The Saints didn't go away with two quick scores, but junior
Harrison Stockdale scored a great goal in transition and late empty-net goals from
Beau Keough and
Peter Kraemer sealed the win for the Jumbos.
With the victory, Tufts has won the last eight NCAA games on Bello Field dating back to 2019.
Regnery had three goals and an assist in the victory on Sunday, adding two grounders, and Tagliaferri had two goals, an assist and a ground ball. Junior

George Panagopoulos also each had two loose balls and a caused turnover.
The face-off "X" saw
