MEDFORD, MA (May 13, 2025) - Four Tufts University players were announced as 2025 Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Team members, as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the classroom and on the court.
Seniors
Derin Acaroglu,
Lachie Macintosh and
Vuk Vuksanovic along with junior
Javier Gonzalez are the Tufts recipients. Acaroglu is receiving the honor for the third straight year, Macintosh and Vuksanovic for the second time and this is the first for Gonzalez.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve on the team with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his current institution. Eligible nominees need to be in the lineup for 70-percent of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores.
Acaroglu (data science major), Macintosh (economics), Vuksanovic (architectural studies) and Gonzalez (computer science) are members of head coach
Karl Gregor's Tufts team that just advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite 8 and will begin play at the national quarterfinals on May 23. The Jumbos are ranked #3 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III poll.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Select Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on June 4.
