MEDFORD, MA (May 18, 2025) - The Tufts University men's tennis team picked up a resounding 4-1 win against RPI to advance to the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship Quarterfinals in Claremont, California against No. 6 Emory. It is their fourth straight season at the NCAA final site, and their third straight match against a ranked opponent.

A Look at the Jumbos (22-2):
Despite suffering a heartbreaking loss to Middlebury in the New England Small College Athletic Conference Tournament, the Jumbos have bounced back very well with a pair of wins against ranked competition in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
The Jumbos enter the quarterfinal round with a 22-2 record and were ranked number three in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll. Both
Vuk Vuksanovic and
Javier Gonzalez will compete later in May in the NCAA Individual Championships in the singles and doubles.
The 2025 NESCAC Player of the Year, Vuksanovic enters the quarterfinal round as the top ranked player for the Jumbos. He holds the number two ranking in the individual ITA poll, and his impressive 24-3 record leads Tufts in singles play this season. The senior has won all 13 of his previous singles matches, and also carries a 23-5 record in doubles play into the quarterfinal round.
Gonzalez is ranked as the number 17 singles player in the most recent ITA poll, making it two consecutive weeks in the top-20 for the junior. He carries an eight match winning streak in singles play into the quarterfinal round, and has won both of his doubles matches in the NCAA tournament.Â
Senior
Derin Acaroglu is the third Jumbo to be within the top-50 in the recent ITA poll, holding the number 47 ranking. He enters the quarterfinal round as winner of nine of his previous 12 singles matches. He also holds a 15-8 record in doubles play as he enters the quarterfinal round.Â
Junior
Andrej Djokic packs a lethal punch in the singles, as his 16-5 record in singles play reflects. He enters the quarterfinal round as winner of six of his last eight matches.
Alex Ganchev has been the yin to Djokic's yang, excelling in the doubles with a 15-1 record and a 10 match winning streak.
First-year dynamo
Stavros Mastrogamvrakis is still 14-1 on the year in singles play after his previous two matches were abandoned, and
Garv Bahl improved to 9-0 in singles play after a win at the number five position against Goucher.
The Jumbos carry a 92% overall win percentage into the quarterfinal round, and a 78% winning percentage in both singles and doubles play. It is their fourth straight season in the NCAA Elite Eight, and are looking to return to the title match for the first time since 2023. The 2025 NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year, led by head coach

A Look at the Eagles (17-6):
After a win in the third-place match in the UAA Tournament, the Eagles rattled off a pair of 4-0 wins to break out of their regional final and reach the quarterfinal round. The Eagles are in search of their seventh National Title to tie the all-time record of most team titles.Â
The Eagles were ranked as the number six team in the most recent ITA poll, and are led by Ruilin Feng in singles play with a 17-4 record overall. Feng is ranked as the number 13 singles player individually.Â
Efe Comu also poses a threat in the singles, ranked as the number 29 singles player with a 16-11 record. Dean Kamenev is ranked as the number 41 singles player with a 10-6 record, and John Lasanajak makes it four Eagles inside the top-50 ranked singles players with a 14-7 record.Â
Feng and Christian Liew are ranked as the number seven doubles pairing in the ITA polls with a 21-6 record to their names. The Eagles have consistently shaken up their doubles pairings outside of their ranked duo, with the pairing of Kamenev and Ajay Kartik seeing the second most time together with a 4-7 record.Â
Emory enters the quarterfinal round as winners of three straight matches, and will pose a threat to the Jumbos in singles play.
A Look at Johns Hopkins (16-7) & Denison (25-2):
The advancing team from the Tufts versus Emory match will go on to play the winner of the match occurring simultaneously between Johns Hopkins and Denison on Tuesday, May 20 at 8:00 pm EST. Denison holds the number two ranking in the ITA poll, and Johns Hopkins was ranked number eight.Â
Denison boasts two singles players ranked inside of the ITA top-5, with Kael Shalin Shah ranked number three and Ethan Green ranked number four in singles play. Shalin Shah enters the quarterfinal round with a 28-6 singles record while Green enters the round with a singles record of 25-7. The two combine for the number two ranked doubles pairing with a 27-5 record together.
Jacob Patterson is ranked number 20 to make it three Denison ranked singles players, and pairs with Colin Grawley for the number 16 ranked doubles pairing. Denison is a well rounded team, and are in search of their first title match appearance in program history.Â
Johns Hopkins highest ranked singles player is Chakor Sankaran Rajendra at number 28 with a 17-12 record in singles play. Daniel Ardila is ranked number 43 with a record of 10-6 in singles play.Â
Ardila and David Blenkiron combine for the number eight ranked doubles pairing with a record of 12-9. Johns Hopkins is in search of their first men's tennis title match appearance as well.
