A Look At The Jumbos (20-2)
The Jumbos saw their 13-match win streak snapped their last time out, falling to No. 8 Middlebury College 4-3 in the NESCAC semifinal match. Tufts defeated Colby in the conference quarterfinals, but fell in doubles to the Panthers the next day and wasn't able to rally in singles to earn the win. Middlebury would go on to win the NESCAC title the next day over Bowdoin College.

Despite the setback, the Jumbos still come into the weekend with a very strong 20-2 record on the season. The Jumbos are ranked No. 3 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, while Vuk Vuksanovic and Javier Gonzalez were named to the NCAA Individual Championships later in the month in both singles and doubles.

Vuksanovic, who was named Wednesday as the NESCAC Player of the Year, is ranked No. 3 in the nation right now after going an impressive 20-2 on the season including a 14-2 mark in dual matches. Vuksanovic has won his last 11 matches overall in singles, while also tallying an 18-4 mark in doubles.

Gonzalez, who's ranked in the ITA Top 20 for the first time this season, has won five straight and is 11-3 this season in dual matches. He was also a very strong 7-1 in the NESCAC this season, playing nearly entirely at No. 2. Gonzalez is tied for the team lead in doubles' wins with 20 this year.

Senior Derin Acaroglu was just named as an All-NESCAC Second Team honoree and is ranked No. 48 nationally, and has gone 12-5 on the season including a strong 7-1 in dual matches at No. 3. He's 8-2 in his last 10 singles' matches while teaming with classmate Lachie Macintosh to go 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.

Junior Andrej Djokic is 16-4 on the season in singles, and looks to draw into the lineup this weekend again, while junior Alex Ganchev has been dynamic in doubles with a 7-0 NESCAC mark while posting a 14-1 doubles record this year.

First-year Stavros Mastrogamvrakis is 14-1 on the year and 13-0 in dual matches, winning his last 13 outings in singles, and Garv Bahl is 7-0 this season in singles after playing No. 6 last weekend. Sacha Maes has gone 8-2 in singles, but his 20-3 mark in doubles is the best on the squad.

Tufts has won 80 percent in doubles this season, winning 78.8 percent in singles including an 80.5 mark in dual matches. Tufts also has gone 19-2 at No. 5 and 18-2 at No. 6 this season.

The Jumbos have made it to the NCAA Elite Eight or better in each of the last three seasons, including a trip to the NCAA title match in 2023.

Head coach Karl Gregor and his staff were named as the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year Wednesday afternoon.

A Look At The Field
The Jumbos will have a strong field to compete against this weekend, at No. 12 RPI will also have a first round bye on the other side of the bracket. No. 11 Amherst College come to town to battle Oswego State in the opening round, while No. 68 Goucher College will take on Rhode Island College in the other First Round battle.

The 12th-ranked Engineers are led by Aiden Drover-Mattinen, who's ranked No. 8 in the nation as of the last rankings. Drover-Mattinen has gone 27-1 this season in singles, with his lone loss of the season coming to top-ranked Advik Mareedu of CMS back in ITA Cup semifinals. RPI is 18-3 on the season, having knocked off Hobart College 4-0 in the Liberty League title match. RPI's losses were to Babson College, Middlebury and Division I North Carolina A&T.

Amherst is ranked No. 11 in the latest ITA rankings, and have a very strong 1-2 punch at the top of the lineup in No. 25 ranked Andreas Sillaste and No. 37 Ed Opie. The duo has also teamed up to form a ranked doubles squad this season. Sillaste is 15-10 on the year, while Opie has gone 17-10 in singles. They are 13-7 in doubles. RPI and Amherst played a hard-fought 4-3 match earlier in the season on April 4.

The Gophers of Goucher have moved up in the rankings of late, as they have gone 16-7 on the season and are currently No. 68 in the ITA rankings. Goucher earned a 4-3 win over Drew University in the Landmark title match to earn the spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Gophers have won four of their last five outings. Gabe Naftoly is the team's top player and has played No. 1 most of the season, while Tadeo Asprilla has a team-high 16 wins in singles.

Rhode Island College dropped its first match of the season to Wentworth back on March 15, but has won the last 12 outings including taking the Little East title with wins over Western Connecticut State and Bridgewater State last weekend. Travis Chartier is a strong 11-1 on the year, going 5-1 at the No. 1 spot, while Ethan Clegg is 10-0 this season at No. 2 and No. 3. Kyle Neuendorf is also 11-0 this year with wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.

Oswego State went 11-3 this season and is coming off a 5-1 win against Nazareth University in the Empire 8 Tournament title match. It was the fourth match of the season against Nazareth, as Naz had won the first two. The Lakers are led by Anthony Marcano, as the senior has gone 8-2 this season, winning his last four. Matthew Mannara also has a 9-2 record on the year, winning his last nine.
