MEDFORD, MA (June 3, 2025) - Five Tufts University players have earned spots on the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
The Jumbos receiving the honor are senior catcher
Connor Brala, graduate student shortstop
Ozzie Fleischer, senior pitcher
Jacob Lapp, senior pitcher
Connor Podeszwa and senior pitcher
Silas Reed. Fleischer, Lapp and Reed are receiving the award for the second straight year.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his current institution. Nominated athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's contests. For pitchers, at least 17 appearances or 35 innings pitched are required.
Brala is a 2025 Tufts University graduate with degrees in biomedical engineering and economics. Fleischer graduated in 2024 with an political science degree and is now studying in a two-year international relations program at Tufts' prestigious Fletcher School. Lapp and Podeszwa both graduated in May with biology degrees, and Reed is a 2025 graduate in computer science. All five were leaders of first-year head coach
Bryan Stark's Jumbo team which was a NESCAC quarterfinalist this year.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Select Academic All-District® recipients advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 1, 2025.
