Biccard Ties Tufts Record With 5 Goals in Field Hockey's 8-0 Win at Colby

WATERVILLE, ME (September 13, 2025) - Senior Hannah Biccard tied the Tufts University Field Hockey record for goals in a game with five today as the Jumbos exploded for an 8-0 NESCAC win at Colby College.

Biccard's five goals today tie the school record originally set by Chelsea Yogerst against the University of New England in 2014. Biccard is the first Jumbo to ever score five times against a NESCAC opponent.

The Jumbos' eight goals as a team today tied for their second-most ever in a conference game. It's Tufts' biggest offensive output since the 2019 squad scored eight against Connecticut College. The Jumbos improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the NESCAC with the win.

Biccard started her day with two goals in the first quarter. After junior Claire Casey scored Tufts' first goal 11:31 into the opening period, Biccard tallied just 26 seconds later to make it a 2-0 game. Biccard then added a third Tufts goal in the first, scoring during a corner with an assist from Casey.

Tufts would lead 5-0 by halftime, with Biccard's third goal early in the second quarter and then the first collegiate score from Scarlett Carpenter (assisted by Ellie Wilkins) later in the frame giving the Jumbos a commanding lead.

The Jumbo defense had another excellent effort today. They did not allow a shot on goal in the first 30 minutes. Tufts changed goalies from starter Lydia Eastburn to junior Isabel Ginns for the second half. The Mules (0-3, 0-2 NESCAC) created some offensive opportunities in the second half, when they earned two corners and forced Ginns to make three saves.

Biccard stole the ball from a Colby defender and scored her fourth of the game with a turnaround shot in the third quarter for a 6-0 Jumbo lead. She then notched the fifth goal by cleaning up on a corner attempt and the Jumbos led 7-0 after 45 minutes of play.

First-year Eleanor Helm scored the eighth and final Tufts goal with a backhanded shot from out along the left curve of the circle.

Eastburn and Ginns shared the shutout for the Jumbos, their third in four games early in the 2025 season. Starter Ginna Jacoby made two saves for Colby, while Opal O'Rourke entered for the second half and made five stops.

Shots finished 22-5 in favor of Tufts, as did corners 8-2.

The #7 Jumbos will be on the road again Wednesday for a date at third-ranked Babson College.
