Men's Soccer Draws with Colby

WATERVILLE, ME (September 13, 2025) - The Tufts University men's soccer team spent most of the match on the attacking end of the Serdjian Field on the campus of Colby College but they were unable to score against the Mules as they played to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon.

The Jumbos (2-1-1, 0-1-1 NESCAC) started off in their signature fashion; establishing the tempo of the New England Small College Athletic Conference match early on. The Mules (2-1-1, 0-1-1 NESCAC) proved to be stingy on defense, limiting the Jumbos chances in the attacking third despite not seeing much of the ball.

The match was largely confined to Colby's side of the midfield. The Tufts defense led by graduate student Taylor Feinberg held a high line at midfield, repelling the Mules' attempts at an attack with ease. Senior goalkeeper Nikola Antic had an easy opening frame as he was called into action exactly zero times.

Mateo Bargagna recorded the lone shot on goal of the opening half as the senior fullback nodded a cross towards goal that was grabbed by Colby goalkeeper Jackson Magee.

The Jumbos emerged for the second half with an even higher tempo. They pushed the Mules further back into their own end but still the hosting defense held on. Tufts would end up earning six corner kicks, but none were converted into that elusive goal.

Midway through the second half the Jumbos had a goal waved off after a signature long throw-in deep in the attacking third. The leaping group of players got tangled up with the goalkeeper prior to the ball entering the net causing the goal to be disallowed. The Jumbos kept their heads up and their foot on the gas, and would end the match with five shots on goal to Colby's zero.

The Jumbos would ultimately be unable to put the ball past Magee and ended the match with a scoreless draw, their first such result since September 15, 2024.

The Jumbos will have a quick turnaround as they head home for a nonconference home match against Husson University on Bello Field at 2:00 pm.
