CRANSTON, RI (September 13, 2025) - Junior Devon Owen of the Tufts University sailing team secured a solid ninth-place finish out of 31 individuals at the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Open Singlehanded Championship which finished today.
After just three races were held at the event yesterday, the maximum of eight starts were completed today. For the two day event - 11 races - Owen compiled a 107 score for ninth-place. He moved up from 12th place after Friday's races.
In eight starts today, Owen had a run with a fifth-, fourth- and sixth-place finish consecutively to help his cause. He also had a seventh-place result in the final race.
Tufts had three sailors at the event overall. Junior
Wyatt Bischoff was 21st in the scoring with a 216 score, including a best race of 11th in today's third start. Junior
Gus Macaulay finished 27th overall with a 275 score.
Harvard University junior Robby Meek won the NEISA Singlehanded title and earns an automatic berth into the Intercollegiate Sailing Association Singlehanded Nationals coming up in November.
Six conference automatic berths and 12 at-large berths from across the nation will be awarded for the singlehanded nationals. Owen is eligible for one of the at-large invitations.
