WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (September 20, 2025) – Running at #2 in the nation Williams College's home meet, the #17-ranked Tufts University women's cross country team had a solid showing with a second-place finish at the Purple Valley Classic on Saturday.
Tufts had all five of its runners score among the top 15 individuals to earn a team score of 58. The host Ephs won the five-team event with a 20 score. The Jumbos were ahead of #22-ranked RPI, who compiled a 69 score today. Trinity College (105) and Molloy College (153) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Senior
Liz Donahue continued to be the team leader, finishing the six-kilometer course today in a 22:33.3 time for seventh individually out of 81 runners.
The Jumbos then had consecutive scores of 11th, 12th and 13th. Sophomore
Deirdre Flanagan led that pack at 22:59.4, junior
Katya Henisz was next in 23:09.8 and sophomore
Samara McVey then came in at a 23:13.3 mark. Senior
Lexi Dean closed out the Jumbo scoring at 15th with a 23:18.8 time.
Rounding out the Jumbo top seven were first-year
Lauren Downer's 23:36.7, and classmate
Lily Simmonds' 23:39.8 which both scored in the top 20.
Senior
Vivian Lau (23:40.5), junior
Kaya West (23:44.4) and sophomore
Grace Doyle (23:48.2) were close behind.
Tufts sophomore
Zoe Margolies fell during the race and was unable to continue, which affected Tufts' score as she would typically be among the top five for the Jumbos.
