CLINTON, NY (October 2, 2026) -- Junior
Maiwenn Kamdje was lethal Friday night offensively, helping lead a productive and efficient offensive unit in a three-set victory for the Tufts University women's volleyball team over host Hamilton College from Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.
Tufts won with scores of 26-24, 25-16 and 25-14. The story once again for the second straight New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) win for Tufts was its offense, as it posted a season-high hitting percentage of .339. The 47 kills were tied for the most in a three-set victory this season, as the squad committed only eight errors, a season-low.
The offensive unit was balanced, but led by a stellar hitting night from Kamdje, who finished with 14 kills on 23 swings, adding one block. Senior
Claire Castor had nine terminations, nine digs and three aces, and first-year
Tessa Fergusson hit .583 on 12 chances to record seven kills and four blocks.
Junior
Celina Savage had seven kills and no errors on 18 attempts, hitting .389 for the match in addition to her two blocks.
Emma Heckman also had four kills and two aces.
Senior
Rianna Liu had 23 assists and a team-best 12 digs while also adding two service aces.
Ellery Clark had 14 assists, and classmate and junior
Dylan Whisenant had six digs as well.
The first set was the only real stanza in doubt on Friday, as both teams had long runs though the host Continentals (5-4, 1-3 NESCAC) fended off two set points to tie the period at 23. Fergusson made it 25-24 with a kill, followed by a Savage termination to give the Jumbos the early lead.
Tufts would hit .516 in the second set, followed by another hot .366 in the third set to pull away for the win. The Jumbos committed just two total hitting errors in the final two sets. The Jumbos also had a 9-2 edge in aces in the win.
Ayzlinn Trefren had 12 kills to lead Hamilton offensively. The win for Tufts was its fifth straight three-set victory on the season, while the Jumbos are now 27-1 against Hamilton since 1996.
The Jumbos (10-5, 2-1 NESCAC) will have another big NESCAC match Saturday, traveling to Middlebury College for a 2 p.m. battle with the Panthers in Middlebury, VT.
