No. 3 Women's Soccer Seven-Game Win Streak Snapped With 1-1 NESCAC Draw at No. 8 Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (October 24, 2026) – The No. 3 ranked Tufts University women's soccer team seven-game win streak came to an end as they played to a 1-1 draw on the road at No. 8 Williams in a critical conference contest in Williamstown, MA this afternoon.

For the Jumbos (10-0-3, 6-0-3 NESCAC), this was there first matchup against a top-10 ranked opponent since their 2-0 victory over No. 4 MIT back on September 25th. Williams (10-2-1, 7-1-1 NESCAC) entered today's matchup on a six-game win streak, while only allowing one score during that stretch.

The Ephs put in the first goal of the contest at the 13:32 mark of the opening half to grasp a one goal advantage early on. Maya Lloyd buried her team-leading sixth tally of the season with Elizabeth Stophel dishing out her fourth assist of the fall on the lead-taking score.

Tufts responded well and managed to knot the game at one in the 34th minute. After a foul outside of the box in Williams' defensive end, Maren Jones sent in a free kick to the middle of the box, an Eph defender tried to head the ball away, but Emily Nicholas scooped up the loose ball and fired it into the open cage for her sixth goal of the season which ranks second on the Jumbos.

No shots were attempted by either team in the final 10 minutes before the halftime break. Williams held a six to three advantage in shot attempts, while both the Jumbos and the Ephs each had two corner kick opportunities at the end of the first 45 minutes.  Gigi Edwards stopped two shots before the conclusion of the half, while Chelsea Mohammed stuffed one shot.

In a scoreless second half, both the Jumbos and the Ephs put three shots on goal as a lot of back-and-forth play took place with little threatening chances surfacing. Williams took a three to one advantage in corner kick chances.

Edwards ended the contest with five total saves, while Mohammed corralled four stops for Williams.

The Jumbos will visit Brunswick, ME on Tuesday to wrap up the regular season with a NESCAC matchup against Bowdoin at 6 PM.
