Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

2nd-Ranked Hamilton Escapes With 2-1 Victory Over Jumbos

MALDEN, MA (February 13, 2026) – Hamilton goaltender Aksel Reid registered 24 stops to lift Hamilton College men's hockey team over Tufts University 2-1 in NESCAC play at the Valley Forum.

Hamilton improves to 9-2-1 on the road, while Tufts falls to 3-6-0 at home and 7-8-0 in NESCAC play.

The Continentals jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the opening period with a tally from Liam Varmecky. After an aggressive forecheck, Noah Leibl sent a pass up the boards to Zach Walsh, Walsh went tape-to-tape across the blue line to Liam Varmecky, and Varmecky wristed it past the Jumbos netminder.

With under 17 minutes remaining in the middle frame, Ben Zimmerman doubled Hamilton's lead on a power play opportunity. Sylas Oberting tried to clear the defensive zone, but his stick broke in half, and the puck went straight to Zimmerman who walked in deked Gus Bylin to put Hamilton up 2-0.

Max Resnick capitalized on a man advantage opportunity with 13:28 remaining in regulation to bring the game to within one. With the power play set up in the offensive zone, Ethan Ullrick rifled a pass through the middle of the zone to Trace Norwell, Norwell put a shot on goal, and Resnick buried the rebound for his 10th marker of the season.

Bylin was pulled to bring on the extra skater with 1:36 remaining in the third. The Jumbos had multiple solid looks on net, but Reid refused to concede a goal to seal the win for Hamilton.

Bylin was solid between the pipes stopping 27 shots. However, Reid took the victory with 24 saves.

Hamilton led the shot column 29-25. Each team converted once on multiple power play opportunities. Hamilton was 1 for 9 on the man advantage and Tufts finished 1 for 4.

The Jumbos return home tomorrow against Amherst for a 4:00 puck drop.
