Jumbos Hockey Routs Amherst 6-1 With Four Multi-Point Scorers

MALDEN, MA (February 14, 2026) – Host Tufts University delivered a 6-1 rout to Amherst College in NESCAC play on Saturday night at the Malden Valley Forum.
 
The Jumbos improve to 8-8-0 in conference action on the season, while Amherst drops to 5-10-1 in the NESCAC.
 
The Jumbos opened the game with four straight goals in the first period. Cole Dubicki picked up his second tally of the season with a wrister over the left pad of Andrew Palena 91 seconds into the frame. Dennis Davidson posted back-to-back markers 37 seconds apart to put Tufts up 3-0. Ethan Ullrick capped off the first period barrage with a slow-paced shot that managed to trickle by Vincent Lamberti.
 
Amherst subbed in Lamberti after they faced an early 3-0 deficit.
 
The Mammoths found the back of the net with 1:25 remaining in the opening stanza to cut the lead to three. From the left side of the neutral zone, Romulus Riego de Dios fed Oscar Smink, Smink skated down the right side of the zone and found Carson Baylis cross-crease for the tap-in score.
 
With 1:55 remaining in the middle period, Brendan Fennell put the Jumbos back up by four. After finding a loose puck in the neutral zone, Ullrick dished a simple feed to Fennell, and Fennell buried a breakaway goal.
 
Sylas Oberting found the back of the net for the third time this year with the Mammoth net empty with 4:13 remaining in regulation to make the final score 6-1.
 
Davidson (2 G, 1 A), Fennell (1 G, 2 A), Ullrick (1 G, 1 A), and Dubicki (1 G, 1 A) all registered multiple points in the victory.
 
Both Tufts and Amherst registered 30 shots on goal apiece. Neither team capitalized on power play opportunities. The Jumbos went 0 for 2 on the man advantage. Amherst finished 0 for 3.
 
Tufts travels to Colby on Friday at 7:00.
