Strong Debuts in Pentathlon and DMR Lead Women's Track & Field on Friday

MEDFORD, MA (February 13, 2026) - The Tufts University women's indoor track & field team competed in its first pentathlon and distance medley relay (DMR) events of the season on Friday at the Tufts Cupid Challenge at the Gantcher Center.

Both events went well for the Jumbos. The DMR foursome of first-year Lily Simmonds, senior Anne-Sophie Janssen, first-year Kayleigh Forde and senior Liz Donahue ran an 11:59.29 time. It's one of the nation's top marks in the event as of Friday evening.

The meet featured two pentathlon competitions today. Tufts first-year Eleanor Lewis won the open pentathlon out of 16 competitors with 2906 points Her best marks came in the 60-meter hurdles (10.14 for 686 points), the high jump (1.55m - 5'1" for 678 points) and the 800 meters (2:36.69 for 611 points). Classmate Camilla Brewer was third in the open pentathlon (2748), including scoring 783 points with her 9.63 time in the 60 hurdles.

An invite pentathlon was also held at Gantcher today. Tufts sophomore Lauren Zipoili accumulated 2986 points, which puts her in the team's top 10 for the indoor multi-event. Her time of 9.25 seconds for a PR in the 60 hurdles scored 858 points, improved her team-best mark in the event this season and also placed her into the team's top 10 all-time. Sophomore Cameron Stanton was also in the invited pentathlon field and scored 2860 points. Her best performance was in the long jump, where a 5.24m mark (17'2 ¼") tied for the team's best distance this season and is her indoor PR.

The Cupid Challenge pole vault was also held on Friday with Tufts junior Emma Gall finishing as the runner-up with her best mark of 3.47m (11'4 ½"). Junior Lena Tang took fourth place (3.32m - 10'10 ¾").

Junior Britney Lu competed in the open weight throw competitions on frida and had a big PR with an 11.70m (38'4 ¾") toss. She was fourth in the event. 

Saturday's second day of action at the Cupid Challenge begins at 9 AM. Some Jumbos will also compete at Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday.
