WATERVILLE, ME (February 20, 2026) – Visiting Tufts University fell in overtime 3-2 at host Colby College in NESCAC play at Jack Kelley Rink.
Colby improved to 10-11-2 overall on the season with the win, while the Jumbos fell to 11-11-1 and 8-9-0 in conference action.
In a scoreless opening period,
Gus Bylin posted 15 saves for the Jumbos, while Cooper Rautenstrauch stopped nine shots for Colby. Both sides produced solid scoring chances, but the goaltenders kept the scoreboard empty.
The Mules took a 1-0 lead with 3:20 remaining in the middle frame. As Colby's offense ran the cycle in the offensive zone, Bobby Landry found Wyatt Schmidek in the high-slot, Schmidek put a shot towards goal that was blocked by
Rory Andriole, but it went right to James Tepper who fired a shot off the pad of Bylin, and Schmidek buried the rebound.
Philippe Lamarre captured his second marker of the season to tie the game with 0.6 seconds remaining in the second period. As time dwindled down, from Tufts' defensive zone
Cole Dubicki hit
Ethan Ullrick tape-to-tape streaking through the neutral zone. With Lamarre just coming off the bench he joined the rush with Ullrick to make it a two-on-one opportunity, Ullrick sauced a pass over a Colby defender's stick, and Lamarre backhanded a shot into the back of the net.
With 12:42 to go in the third, Will Soloway gave the Mules a short lived one goal advantage with helpers from Wyatt Schmidek and Tyler Crist.
Exactly 30 seconds later,
John Mulvihill brought the game back to an even 2-2 score. After a giveaway by a Mules defender in Colby's defensive zone, Mulvihill picked up the loose puck and made a nifty move on Rautenstrauch for the score.
Colby thought they had the game-winner with 1:23 remaining in regulation, but the goal was quickly negated due to a kicking motion rule violation.
Both goalies put up respectable performances. Rautenstrauch stood tall in net collecting 25 saves in the hard-fought win. Bylin was solid between the posts tallying 27 saves in the defeat.
Resnick's point streak comes to an end at nine games.
Colby led the shot department 30-27. Neither team capitalized on power play opportunities, Tufts finished 0 for 3 and Colby went 0 for 2.
The Jumbos cap off their regular season tomorrow at 3 PM at Bowdoin.
