BRUNSWICK, ME (February 21, 2026) -- The Tufts University women's basketball team saw its 2025-26 season come to an end Saturday afternoon at No. 8 and top-seeded Bowdoin College, as the Polar Bears earned a 73-56 victory over the Jumbos in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) quarterfinals at Morrell Gymnasium.
With the loss, the Jumbos finish the season 13-12 while Bowdoin improved to 23-1 and will now host the NESCAC semifinals and finals next weekend in Brunswick. Bowdoin will take on No. 5 seed Williams College, while Amherst College and Bates College will meet in the other semifinal on Saturday, February 28.
The Jumbos trailed early in the game Saturday, as Abbie Quinn netted a traditional three-point play just over two minutes into the game to make it 11-2. Tufts rallied back with an 11-2 run over the next four minutes, as junior
Stella Galanes hit a jumper with 3:07 left in the first quarter to deadlock the game at 13.
Bowdoin's Rachel Storey hit a three-pointer moments later, starting a 10-2 run for the Polar Bears to end the first quarter with the hosts leading 23-15. Bowdoin upped its lead to as many as 18 points, but five points just before the half pulled the Jumbos closer at 40-27 at the break.
Tufts hit its opening shot of the second half to pull to within 11, but that would be as close as the Jumbos would get the rest of the way as Bowdoin cruised to the playoff win.
Galanes finished with a team-high 14 points off the bench for the Jumbos, making 5-of-9 overall and 1-of-4 from deep. First-year
Tessa Lozner tallied 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting, and classmate
Abby Congdon added eight points and three rebounds.
Sophomore
Siobhan Stapleton had a team-high five rebounds and senior
Sarah Crossett added eight points in 14 minutes off the bench. Sophomore
