Gyimesi Becomes All-Time Leading Rebounder As No. 9 Men's Hoops Rolls Past Hamilton, 102-71

CLINTON, NY (February 7, 2026) -- Tufts University senior forward Scott Gyimesi became the program's all-time leading rebounder Saturday afternoon at Hamilton College, as the standout forward finished with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds to help the No. 9 Jumbos to a 102-71 win in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play at Scott Field House.

With the 10 rebounds, Gyimesi now sits with 921 rebounds for his career, as he passed former Jumbo great Bill Ewing '83 on the list with his 918. He is one of just two players ever at Tufts with over 900 rebounds. He also moved into No. 15 this weekend all-time in points scored with his 1,251 as of Saturday.

Despite the final scoreline though, the Jumbos had to play the majority of the first half from behind as Hamilton (5-17, 1-7 NESCAC) led by as many as 12 points with 8:26 to go in the opening stanza at 30-18. The Jumbos would go on a 8-2 mini-run to make it a 32-26 deficit after a Robbie Nyamwaya bucket, finally tying the game back up at 39 with two minutes to play.

Two free throws by senior James Morakis, which were part of a 12-0 run to finish the first half for Tufts, gave the Jumbos the lead as they went into the locker room with a 48-39 lead.

The Tufts' edge would stay at a comfortable spot though a three-pointer by Evan O'Reilly of Hamilton pulled the Continentals to within 11 at 67-56 with just under 12 minutes to go. An 11-2 run though would give the Jumbos a 20-point lead at 78-58, as the spurt was highlighted by dunks from Joshua Bernstein and Ricardo Nieves

Tufts' advantage would continue to grow all the way though the final buzzer, as first-year Deacon Baratta nailed his first two collegiate three-pointers to put an exclamation point on the win.

Bernstein had a stellar day for the Jumbos, as he finished with a career-high 23 points while adding eight rebounds on 11-of-13 shooting. The 11 made field goals were the most of his career as well. Gyimesi was 8-of-14 overall, hitting all three of his three-point attempts for his 22 points, adding three assists and two steals.

Nieves continued to blossom into a big-time player for the Jumbos in his first year, as he tallied 13 points, going 7-for-7 at the line, while handing out five assists. Sophomore Evan Reeves finished with eight points in 12 minutes as well off the bench.

Junior Dylan Reilly was 2-for-3 from deep, tallying seven points, and Nyamwaya, senior Sidney Wooten, Morakis and Baratta all had six points as well.

Junior Jon Medley dished out six assists as well for Tufts, who finished with 23 helpers for the game. The Jumbos were 10-of-19 (52.6 percent) from three-point land Saturday, making a strong 56.7 percent (38-67) overall on field goals.

Tufts also tallied a 22-14 edge in points off turnovers, and the Jumbo bench outscored Hamilton's 48-17. The Jumbos additionally recorded a 50-32 edge in points inside. The contest was the fourth time this season the Jumbos have hit the 100-point plateau, the most since the 2015-16 team tallied five in a 23-7 campaign.

Garret Keyhani had 23 points and nine rebounds for Hamilton, who shot 39.7 percent (25-63) overall.

The Jumbos are off until Sunday, February 15, traveling to Lewiston, Maine for the regular season finale against Bates College at 2 p.m. in NESCAC action.
