No.15 Jumbo’s Women’s Tennis Sweeps Fourth Consecutive Match

Written by Ben Lable, Athletic Communications Student Intern

MEDFORD, MA (March 11, 2025) - The No. 15 Tufts University women's tennis team returned home to the Vouté Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon to face the Endicott College Gulls, with the Jumbos claiming a 7-0 win over the visiting Gulls.

Endicott entered the match with a 9–8 overall record, coming off a 7–0 loss to Colby College, while the Jumbos brought a perfect 3–0 record after sweeping Bates 7–0 over the weekend. The two teams have little history against one another, having met only twice previously. Their first match-up came in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2021, and they faced off again last season in the regular season. Endicott was shut out in both matches.

The Jumbos jumped out to a quick 1–0 lead after securing the doubles point in just 21 minutes. Rachel Cranley and Stephanie Woodbury were the first to finish at No. 1 doubles, defeating Caroline Sutliffe and Emily Leclerc 6–1. Moments later, freshman Alyssa Khou and Kyra McCandless earned a clean 6–0 victory over Abigail Fleming and Amber Woods at No. 3 doubles.

At No. 2 doubles, Ryan Wuhrman and Natalie Hu brought home their own 6–0 win against Nadia Uzelac and Julia Rockler.
Wuhrman was the first Jumbo to finish in singles, cruising to a 6–0, 6–0 victory over Woods at No. 4 singles. Athena Li followed shortly after at No. 2 singles with another 6–0, 6–0 win over Sutliffe.

Khou secured the fourth point, and clinched the match for Tufts with a 6–1, 6–2 victory against Fleming at No. 6 singles, marking the first singles win of her collegiate career. McCandless added the fifth point with a commanding 6–1, 6–0 win over Uzelac at No. 3 singles.

At No. 5 singles, Evelina Anastasi wrapped up her match in just under an hour, defeating Milana Montini 6–3, 6–0. Nadia Khera completed the 7–0 match sweep for the Jumbos at No. 1 singles, defeating Leclerc. After trailing 3–2 in the first set, Khera rattled off ten straight games to win 6–3, 6–0.

Tufts will be back on the road tomorrow as they travel to Hartford, Connecticut to take on the Bantams of Trinity College. The Jumbos currently hold a nine-match winning streak over Trinity dating back to 2015. During that stretch, the Bantams have been outscored 74–5 in overall match scores. The matchup will be the final match for the Brown and Blue before traveling to Virginia for spring break, where they will face their first test against other nationally ranked opponents.

Order of Finish:
Doubles – 1, 3, 2
Singles – 4, 2, 6, 3, 5, 1
