MEDFORD - Eleven Tufts University indoor track & field athletes returned home from the NCAA Division III Championships in Birmingham, Alabama March 13-14 with All-American honors, which were officially announced today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The top eight finishers in each individual and relay event at the NCAA DIII Indoor Championships earn First Team honors. The ninth through 16th placing individuals, and the ninth and 10th placing relays receive Second Team recognition. The Second Team salute was initiated in 2024.
The Tufts men's team finished with six All-Americans, all on the second team. Senior

Sam Kurian and senior
Cullen McCaleb all achieved the award for the distance medley relay's 10th-place finish. Senior
Josh Wilkie in the 60-meter hurdles and junior
Harris Gulbransen in the 5000 meters both placed ninth in their events for the Second Team award.
Wilkie earns his first indoor All-American honor, and now has two overall (both Second Team) for his career including outdoors. McCaleb and Gulbransen both won their first track All-American award, adding them to their cross country All-American honors in the fall. Kurian, Hampson and McLeod are All-Americans for the first time.

Simi Lawal and sophomores
Arielle Chechile and
Elysse Cumberland who did it in two events each. Cumberland was the national champion in the triple jump for First Team All-American honors, and was also seventh in the long jump (Second Team). Lawal received a pair of First Team All-American accolades for a fourth in the 60-meter dash and a sixth in the 200 meters. Chechile made the final in the 400 where she was unfortunately disqualified, but earns Second Team recognition. She was also 12th in the 200 meters for another Second Team All-American honor. Senior

Makayla Moriarty (14th in the 400 meters) achieve Second Team All-American.
Cumberland now has five total All-American honors (four indoors), four First Team and one Second Team. Chechile is a four-time All-American (three indoors), all Second Team. Moriarty now has two indoor Second Team recognitions. Donahue adds this Second Team indoor award to a cross country All-American honor that she earned in the fall. Lawal's two First Team achievements for the indoor season are the first two of her career.
