MEDFORD, MA (March 18, 2026) -- The honors continued to pour in for Tufts University men's basketball senior forward
Scott Gyimesi on Wednesday, as the Jumbo star was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-American and All-District First Teams. He was also tabbed as the District 1 Player of the Year in addition to the First Team laurels.
Gyimesi adds these awards to a growing list, as the senior was named as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Year and D3hoops.com Region 1 Player of the Year as well. Gyimesi has been named as a Jostens Trophy finalist for the second straight season, while also earning NESCAC First Team, D3hoops.com All-Region 1 First Team and now NABC All-District 1 and All-American First Team.
Gyimesi is the first NABC All-American First Team honoree from Tufts since Chris McMahon was tabbed to the team back in 1994-95. Gyimesi is just the fourth Tufts player ever to earn a spot on the NABC All-American teams, joining Dylan Thoerner (2022-23), Luke Rogers (2019-20) and McMahon.
Gyimesi was also just one of 10 players that earned First Team All-American honors, as the senior comes into the week averaging 16.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game this season, averaging 30.6 minutes per game in 25 games played.
The senior is shooting 56.0 percent overall, shooting 40 percent from three-point land on the year while making 71.1 percent at the free throw line. Gyimesi is among the all-time active leaders in double-doubles in all of NCAA basketball with his 49 all-time, which is the most among active Division III players.
Gyimesi has helped lead the Jumbos to the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time since the 2016 season, and just the second time in program history. He is currently 13th all-time in scoring at Tufts with his 1306 points, while his rebound total of 948 is the most in program history.
Tufts will take on Trinity College (CT) Thursday afternoon at 6:30 p.m. EDT in the NCAA Quarterfinals in Ft. Wayne, IN at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
