MEDFORD, MA (March 19, 2026) – For the 13th time in her outstanding career,
Kristen Morwick has earned a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Region Coach of the Year honor. Announced today, Morwick was named USTFCCCA Northeast Region Women's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year for the 2025-26 season.
The Tufts women's indoor team featured five All-Americans in six events this year, including junior
Simi Lawal and sophomores
Arielle Chechile and
Elysse Cumberland who earned national honors in two events apiece. Cumberland won her second straight NCAA indoor triple jump title this year. The Jumbos finished tied for ninth place in the team standings at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
In the USTFCCCA All-Region recognition for 2025-26, the Tufts women had 23 individuals earn the award for placing among the top eight for the region in individual and relay rankings. Tufts also won the New England Division III indoor title this year for the first time since 2013. The Jumbos won five events, broke five school records and set two meet records while winning the New England DIII meet.
In addition to the team's competitive success, Tufts features a remarkable 37 individuals who earned NESCAC All-Academic team honors in the winter for carrying grade point averages of 3.50 or higher.
This is Morwick's fifth indoor Coach of the Year award. She is also a three-time outdoor track & field Regional Coach of the Year and a five-time recipient as Regional Coach of the Year in cross country (including two years at Williams College).
One of the longest-tenured head coaches in the region, Morwick has been at Tufts for 28 years now. She also had a stint as a Tufts assistant in the 1990s under Tufts Athletics Hall of Famer Branwen Smith-King. Following the recent reorganization of the Tufts track & field coaching staff, Morwick currently serves as Head Coach of Track & Field/Assistant Coach of Cross Country.

Jamie Norton was selected as USTFCCCA Regional Coach of the Year for men's cross country in the fall.
