KINGS POINT, NY (March 21, 2026) – Fresh off a victory at the Southern New England Team Race last weekend, the Tufts University coed sailing team is tied for first place out of 10 teams after one day at the KP Open Team Race hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday.
A total of 29 races were held in an opening round robin amongst the 10 teams. Eight of the 10 teams competed in six races today, while two finished five races. The Jumbos were undefeated in their six races to tie for first place with St. Mary's (MD), who was also 6-0.
The Tufts victories came against Bowdoin, Christopher Newport, Cornell, Jacksonville, Penn and Miami (FL). Tufts had a perfect 1-2-3 score against Christopher Newport. Still left for Tufts to face in the first round robin are Hobart and William Smith, Kings Point and St. Mary's (MD).
