Coed Team Seventh After Saturday Competition at Friis Trophy

CAMBRIDGE, MA (March 21, 2026) – The Tufts University coed sailing team is in seventh place out of nine teams after Saturday's action at the Jan Friis Trophy.

A full round robin amongst the nine teams was held today, and then nine more races in a second round robin were completed. The Jumbos won two of eight races in the first round robin, then lost their lone race in the second round. Their overall record for the day was 2-7.

The wins for Tufts came versus Coast Guard and MIT in the first round robin, but losses were against Boston College, Brown, College of Charleston, Harvard, Roger Williams and Stanford. Into the second round, the Jumbos lost to MIT.

Stanford leads the regatta with a 9-1 record, earning a tie-breaker (number of races won when tied teams met) over second-place Harvard who is also 9-1.

Tufts' starters today were junior skipper Courtland Doyle with sophomore crew Ceci Priest, junior skipper Devon Owen with sophomore crew Patricia Winssinger and junior skipper Gus Macaulay with senior crew Greta Klein.

Day two on Sunday with a 10 AM first warning will see at least the completion of the second round robin if conditions allow.
