CAMBRIDGE, MA (March 29, 2026) – The Tufts University coed sailing team had another solid finish this weekend as the Jumbos were fifth at the Lynn Marchiando Trophy Team Race hosted by MIT.
Following victories at the Southern New England Team Race two weeks ago, and the KP Open Team Race last week, the Jumbos were among the top teams out of the 16 squads that were in action at the Marchiando regatta this weekend. Tufts finished with a 12-6 overall record, good for fifth place.
Sunday opened with the completion of the first stage of round-robin racing among the 16 teams. Tufts had five races to complete and won four of them (Brown, MIT, Bowdoin and Old Dominion), while losing only one (Navy). That gave Tufts an 11-4 overall record in the round.
For continued racing on Sunday, the top two and bottom two teams were removed, and three Round of 4 competitions were held. Tufts was in the Round of 4 (A) group and defeated St. Mary's (MD) while losing to Roger Williams and Navy. That gave Tufts their overall record of 12-6.
Harvard University won the regatta with a 13-2 record, earning a head-to-head tie-breaker over a Dartmouth team that also had a 13-2 mark.
