MEDFORD, MA (March 7, 2026) -- The No. 1 Tufts University men's lacrosse team extended its win streak to 31 games Saturday afternoon, as the Jumbos scored nine straight times while holding No. 16 Amherst College scoreless over nearly two quarters of play in rolling to a 15-8 win over the visiting Mammoths in league action from Bello Field.
The Jumbos trailed late in the first quarter after back-to-back goals within 15 seconds of each other, as Amherst took a 3-2 edge at 3:44 of the opening stanza on a Brayden Stroh goal. Tufts answered right back with the equalizer just 16 seconds later from senior
Brooks Hauser, and senior
Harrison Stockdale netted his first of the year just before the break to make it 4-3 after one.
The second quarter would be all Jumbos, as Tufts outscored its opponent 6-0 in the stanza highlighted by a pair of goals from senior middie
Garrett Kelly. After the intermission, sophomore defender
William Bonner scored his first collegiate goal to end the nine-goal spurt for Tufts, giving the Jumbos an 11-3 lead. Amherst scored two in a row, but Hauser ended the third quarter with a goal off of a great play from first-year middie
Mason Theis to send the game to the fourth with Tufts up 12-5.
Senior
Jack Regnery and Kelly scored early fourth-quarter goals to make it 14-5, as the Jumbos coasted to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) win.
Tufts outshot its visitors 50-45 on the day, while recording a very solid 26-for-28 mark on clears. Tufts also tallied a slight 41-36 edge in ground balls for the game.
Individually, junior
Will Emsing had a team-high five points on two goals and three assists, and Kelly led all Jumbo scorers with three tallies while also assisting on another. Regnery had four points on three assists and one goal, while Hauser and
Jackson Redd each scored as well.
First-year
Jack Donovan caused three turnovers defensively to go with a ground ball, and Bonner added a pair of caused turnovers in addition to his goal. Sophomore goalkeeper
Jack Old got the win, making 10 saves while surrendering just five goals, picking up four grounders as well.
Senior
Victor Salcedo was 7-for-11 on draws, leading the team with seven ground balls, and
Lucas De la Paz won five of his eight face-offs in addition to his four ground balls. LSM's
Ben Frisoli and
Ben Clarke also each had three loose ball pick-ups in the victory. Junior
Will Anderson made five saves in just 3:52 of game action for the Jumbos.
Amherst got three scores from Patrick Arnold, while Brooks Catlin made 12 saves between the pipes.
The 2026 Mustang Classic is up next for the Jumbos, as Tufts will take on Denison University Friday, March 13 at 5:45 PM before battling Christopher Newport University Saturday at 3:30 PM. All action will take place at Mustang Stadium at Stevenson University in Owings Mills, MD.
