Tufts Men's Tennis Sweeps Williams Saturday, 7-0

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (April 11, 2026) -- The No. 2 Tufts University men's tennis team swept doubles, using that momentum to knock off host and No. 16 Williams College 7-0 in action from Hunt Tennis Center Saturday afternoon in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play.

The Jumbos (14-2, 5-0 NESCAC) won their eighth straight match with the win on Sunday, as Tufts swept doubles before doing the same in singles' action. Tufts has now won five of the last six matches against Williams, while the win in Williamstown was the first one since the 1990 season. The sweep was also the first in the series since a 9-0 win for Tufts back in 1986.

Tufts clinched the doubles' point as No. 2 and No. 3 doubles finished at nearly the exact same time. Kaetan Mehta and Andrej Djokic topped William Luke and Carter Fayard 6-2, while Javier Gonzalez and Stavros Mastrogamvrakis topped Anthony Lim and Robert Cooper 6-1 at No. 3 to clinch the doubles' point.

Seniors Alex Ganchev and Sacha Maes also were able to pick up a win at No. 1 doubles, besting Simon Volkema and Nicholas Chen 6-4.

In singles, Tufts upped its lead to 2-0 thanks to another win by Mehta as he cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Cooper at the No. 5 position. Mastrogamvrakis also was a straight set winner over Ling 6-2, 6-3, while the win was secured by Maes with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 over Lim.

Junior Garv Bahl knocked off Luke at the No. 3 position 7-5, 6-4, and Djokic also earned a straight set win over Chen 6-1, 7-5 at No. 2 singles. The final match came down to a pair of tiebreakers at No. 1, as Ganchev recorded a thrilling 7-6, 7-6 win over Volkema to help post the sweep of the Ephs.

Tufts will now head north to Middlebury College for a noon match against the Panthers in league action.
