MEDFORD, MA (April 11, 2026) – Tufts University sophomores
Arielle Chechile and
Elysse Cumberland both recorded national top-five marks in their events as the Jumbo women's outdoor track & field team competed on the second day of the Tufts Spring Invitational on Saturday at Ellis Oval / Dussault Track.
Chechile ran a time of 55.29 seconds in the 400 meters to win the event and record her outdoor season-best. It ranks her second all-time at Tufts, behind only outdoor 400 record-holder and teammate
Makayla Moriarty (55.21). Chechile's mark is fifth in the nation as of early Saturday evening.
After recording the #2 national mark in the triple jump on Friday, Cumberland went 5.77m (18'11 ¼") in the long jump today to win the event out of 34 entries. The distance ranks fourth nationally early Saturday night.
Part of a versatile day overall, sophomore
Lauren Zipoli also had a strong long jump performance. Her 5.49m (18'0 ¼") mark was third in the event and ranks #36 nationally. She was also third in the 100-meter hurdles today (15.80) and fourth in the 200 meters with a PR of 25.64 seconds.
Senior
Julia Dolce had another top team finish with her second place out of 36 in the 800 meters. Her time of 2:17.40 was just 0.23 behind the leader and is her new PR. Junior
Kaya West was fourth in the event (2:19.20).
Another third-place finish came from senior
Anne-Sophie Janssen in the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:06.00 time.
Tufts had two in the top five of the discus throw today. Sophomore
Mia Kurtz was fourth with a 38.30m (125'8") distance that is the best mark of the season for the Jumbos. Classmate
Julia Saporito placed fifth among the 29 entries (38.25m – 125'6"). Junior
Jackie Wells finished fifth in the shot put with a best effort of 11.13m (36'6 ¼").
Sophomore
Cameron Stanton and first-year
Eleanor Lewis finished the heptathlon on Saturday. Stanton was 12th after the seven events with a 3596 score. Her day included a 4.88m (16'0 ¼") mark in the long jump. Lewis, who went 4.93m (16'2 ¼") in the long jump, totaled 3585 points for 13th place in the multi-event.
Sophomore
Logan Elie ran a 1:01.89 400 PR to place fifth. First-year
Camilla Brewer was the lone Jumbo entry in the high jump and cleared 1.53m (5'0 ¼") for 13th place. The Jumbos also ran a 4x100-meter relay, with sophomore

Valia Droulia and first-year
Elena Clark timing 54.18 seconds (ninth place).
Tufts is scheduled for a trip to California next week to compete in a pair of meets – the Pacific Coast Invitational at Long Beach State, and the Brian Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific.
