BABSON PARK, MA (April 14, 2026) -- Senior
Jack Regnery tallied six points on four goals and two assists, while the No. 1 Tufts University men's lacrosse team forced 31 turnovers by No. 5 Babson College in a 17-8 victory over the Beavers in the final non-conference game of the regular season for the Jumbos.
The Jumbos' victory was their 40th straight overall, as they became just the fifth team in Division III history to reach 40 straight victories. Tufts joins four different stretches by Salisbury University, as the Sea Gulls own the all-time consecutive victories record at 69 from April 17, 2003 to May 28, 2006. Salisbury also posted streaks of 55, 47 and 41 games.
Babson (12-2) and Tufts exchanged goals over the first 10 minutes of the game, as a
Brooks Hauser goal at the 5:19 mark of the first quarter made it 3-3. Just under five minutes later, Regnery netted his second of the night from sophomore
Nick George to give Tufts a 4-3 edge going to the second quarter.
Senior
Garrett Kelly got the second frame going for Tufts with an assisted tally, but the Beavers answered on an unassisted strike from Patrick McAleavey to make it 5-4 Tufts at the 12:20 mark.
From that point, Tufts would take full control of the contest as a
Ben Clarke score in transition started a 6-0 spurt that lasted over 16 minutes of game action capped by a Regnery goal 71 seconds into the second half to push the Tufts' lead to 11-4.
Babson scored back-to-back goals to pull to within five at 11-6 with 5:36 to go in the third quarter, but Tufts outscored the host Beavers 6-2 over the remainder of the game including the first career goal from senior
Bowman Rhinesmith to cap the victory.
The Jumbos outshot Babson 60-34 on the night, doubling up the Beavers in shots on goal, 36-18. Tufts also won the turnover battle 31-13, as the Jumbos forced the most turnovers in a game since inducing Illinois Wesleyan into 33 in the NCAA Tournament Second Round in 2024.
Kelly finished with three goals on three shots on goal for Tufts, while
Will Emsing recorded two goals, an assist and two ground balls. Hauser also worked hard all over the field, scoring twice while adding two ground balls and three caused turnovers on the ride.
First-year
Sean Sheehan also netted a goal for Tufts, while the Jumbos also got scores from
Jackson Redd,
Henry Tweedy and
William Bonner. Bonner also added three caused turnovers on the afternoon, while
Logan Lee chalked up two caused turnovers and three grounders.
Davis Owens also caused a pair of mistakes for the game.
Tufts got solid goalkeeping from its three keepers on Tuesday, as
Jack Old made 10 saves before handing over duties to
Alex Dircks and
Sam Juhnke over the final 8:37.
Victor Salcedo was 6-for-13 at the X for the Jumbos, and
Lucas De la Paz won five of his 11 draws in addition to his four loose balls snags.
Joey Allen had three points for the Beavers, while Seamus Rooney tallied two goals as well for Babson. Andrew Almquist stopped 19 shots in net as well, and Beau Burns was 10-for-13 at the face-off dot for the hosts.
Tufts travels to Hamilton College Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m. in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action.
