BABSON PARK, MA (April 15, 2026) – The Tufts University baseball team was held to just two hits in a 2-1 loss against Babson College this afternoon in non-conference play at Govani Field.
The Jumbos (18-8, 3-3 NESCAC), put together a bullpen crew for today's contest that opened with
Lachlan Ellis as the starting arm. Ellis allowed two earned runs in the first inning before shutting down Babson in the second.
Michael Horne made his first appearance of the spring and produced a scoreless third frame.
Jack Edwards,
Jack McLaughlin, and
Max Williams each saw time on the bump as well. All five of Tufts' pitchers combined for two strikeouts and two earned runs allowed on seven hits in the loss.
The Beavers took an early two-run lead in the bottom of the first inning. Ben Valente walked to put a base runner on for Babson and advanced to second on a wild pitch from Ellis. Ryan Grace plated Valente from second with a base knock up the middle. Ryan Liss pushed Grace to second base with a single into right field. Robert Chirstensen scored the second and final run of the inning with a double down the left field line.
Graydon Vyse was in total control during his time on the hill, holding the Jumbos scoreless with just one hit allowed and three strikeouts through the first five innings of play.
Tufts broke through the steady arm of Vyse in the top of the sixth frame to cut Babson's advantage in half.
Jesse McCullough reached first after a throwing error, moved to second on a wild pitch, and advanced to third on an error by the Beaver catcher.
Jack Kamin brought home McCullough with an RBI single through the left side of the infield.
Kamin improved his hit streak to 11 games as he and
James Henshon registered the only two hits for the Jumbos this afternoon.
Tufts will return to NESCAC action with a trip to Lewiston, ME for a matchup against Bates on Friday at 3 PM.
