AZUSA, CA – On the second day of competition during the Jumbos' trip to California, four Tufts University women's outdoor track & field team members competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University on Friday. The meet features Division I, II and III competition.
First-year
Zui Chinchalkar was the first Jumbo in action, running in the 5000 meters Open B event on Friday morning. She lowered her season-best time in the 5000 by almost 11 seconds to a 17:06.90 time. The mark puts her at #6 all-time at Tufts and is also a top 40 national finish. She was 13th out of more than 100 competitors in the race.
In the evening, senior
Liz Donahue was in the 5000 meters Open A event at Azusa Pacific. She ran her outdoor PR of 17:11.65, which ranks her eighth at Tufts and sneaks into the national top 50 as of Friday evening.
Junior
Ceci LaBarge competed in the hammer throw for the second straight day on Friday. After recording her season-best of 51.41m (168'8") at the University of La Verne's Leopard Invitational on Thursday, she threw 50.27m (164'11") today at the Bryan Clay meet. The mark was 12th out of 51 competitors in the event. Junior
Jackie Wells was also in the hammer throw field at the Bryan Clay Invitational and had a 39.18m (128'6") best mark.
On Saturday, the Jumbos finish their stay in California with more action at Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational. Back in Massachusetts, the Jumbos will have a large contingent of competitors at MIT's Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday.
