MEDFORD, MA (April 18, 2026) -- The No. 2 Tufts University women's lacrosse team outscored visiting Hamilton College 11-3 in the second half, breaking open a tight game at halftime to pick up a 15-6 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) victory on Senior Day from Bello Field.
Prior to the game, the Tufts women's lacrosse team honored its six seniors but the Jumbos were slow out of the gates Saturday as the team led by just one at the halftime intermission at 4-3.
After the break, the Tufts offensive unit started to hit its stride as it scored 10 of the game's final 11 goals to cruise to the win. The Jumbo defense allowed only two goals in the second 30 minutes, while first-year
Eleanor Helm finished with five second-half points.
The Jumbos controlled the early going offensively, but couldn't find the back of the net at Eliza Scharz was strong between the pipes for the Continentals (4-10, 2-8 NESCAC). Hamilton scored the opening two goals, both by Maddigan Leifer, before
Sophia Claps started a three-goal run that finished with a
Schuyler Lloyd strike to put Tufts ahead 3-2 with 9:24 left in the second period.
Hamilton's Sophia Wright evened the game at three, but Helm netted an unassisted goal with 2:04 remaining in the first half to put Tufts up 4-3 at the break.
Lauren Garringer's man-up goal deadlocked the game at four 3:29 into the second half, but Helm scored unassisted to start a four-goal span that finished with Tufts up 9-5. Julia Lee scored on a free-position attempt for Hamilton, but Lloyd and Helm each scored three times down the stretch to help Tufts pull away.
Helm finished with a team-high eight points on five goals and three assists, adding two ground balls and one caused turnovers. Lloyd netted four goals, while sophomore
Anna Mollahan had three points, all on assists.
Senior
Allie Zorn had two goals and one helper, picking up four ground balls, and senior
Kate Deehan had a goal, ground ball and draw control.
Grace Hammond added four draw controls and three grounders, while
Emily Leschin caused a pair of turnovers to go with two ground balls.
Senior
Elsa Schutt netted one goal and had a team-high nine draw controls, as the Jumbos won that category 16-7 for the game. Tufts outshot Hamilton 45-13 for the game, including holding a big 24-7 edge in shots on goal. The Jumbos also earned a slight 21-13 advantage in ground balls.
Sophomore
Devon Chipman made four saves for the Jumbos, while Schwarz recorded 16 saves for the Continentals. Leifer led Hamilton with three goals.
Tufts will finish its regular season with a road game at Bowdoin College Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in Brunswick, Maine.
