CRANSTON, RI (April 19, 2026) – The New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association Open Fleet Race Championship hosted by Brown University finished on Sunday with Tufts University in eighth place out of 18 teams.
On the final day of the regional racing schedule on Sunday, only two races in A and B divisions were able to be completed at the Championship. Following eight races in both divisions on Saturday, Tufts' final score for the 10 total races was 82 in A's and 96 in B's for a 178 total.
The Jumbos finished seventh in A division and eighth in B division for the Championship. On Sunday, the pairings were junior skipper
Courtland Doyle with junior crew Cory Lamoreux in A division, and junior skipper
Gus Macaulay with senior crew
Lilah Parker for B division.
Doyle and Lamoreux won the first A division race on Sunday, and also had a sixth. Those scores helped Tufts move up to seventh in A's after the were 10th on Saturday. Macaulay and Parker were 12th and 17th in their two B races on Sunday.
Harvard University won the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl trophy as New England Fleet Race champions with a 44-54-98 scoring line. Host Brown was the runner-up team. Both squads receive automatic berths into the Intercollegiate Sailing Association Fleet Race National Championship in St. Petersburg, Florida in mid-May.
A total of 36 teams will compete at the Fleet Race Nationals, which gives the Jumbos a strong chance of earning an at-large berth into the regatta when the full field is announced on Tuesday.
