MEDFORD, MA (April 25, 2026) -- The No. 1 Tufts University men's lacrosse team, seeded No. 2 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Tournament, took care of business in the conference quarterfinals Saturday as the Jumbos knocked off No. 15 and seventh-seeded Middlebury College 21-11 in play from Bello Field.
The win moves Tufts (15-1) into the NESCAC semifinals, where the Jumbos will take on Bates College Saturday, May 2 at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Bates defeated fourth-seeded Amherst College 12-7 on the road to move into the semifinals. Top-seed Bowdoin College rolled past Williams College 22-4, and will take on Hamilton College after the sixth-seed Continentals upset Wesleyan University 10-9 in Middletown.
Regnery was the catalyst for the Jumbo offensive unit on Saturday, as the senior attack finished with seven points on four goals and three assists, adding four ground balls as well.
Middlebury (8-7) opened the scoring 56 seconds into the game, but Tufts answered that score with four consecutive goals including the 44th of the season by Regnery to make it 4-1 at 6:59 of the first quarter. The Panthers scored two in a row to make it a one-goal game, but the Jumbos responded with three in a row to make it 7-4 after the opening frame.
Tufts would take control in the second quarter, as the host Jumbos outscored Middlebury 6-2 in the period highlighted by a man-up score by senior
Garrett Kelly as Tufts took a 13-6 edge into halftime.
The goal spree would continue into the third quarter, as Tufts finished its run of seven in a row with back-to-back goals from Regnery to take a 17-6 lead.
Middlebury answered with two goals but Kelly and sophomore
Davis Owens finished the third quarter with goals to send the game to the fourth with Tufts up 19-8.

Tommy McCool netted goals in the fourth as the Jumbos cruised into the NESCAC semifinals.

Chase Beyer posted three goals and two assists along with four ground balls, while classmate
Will Emsing recorded three goals, two helpers and seven ground balls. Kelly scored on all three of his shots on goal, and Owens netted his first career hat trick for the standout long-stick middie.

Victor Salcedo was stellar as he won 11-of-12 of his draws, picking up a team-best eight loose balls.
Lucas De la Paz added four grounders, and sophomore defender
William Bonner led the Jumbos with a pair of caused turnovers. Junior
Logan Lee had three ground balls and a caused turnover as well, and sophomore goalkeeper made 10 saves while allowing eight goals in three quarters of action.
Tufts outshot the Panthers 72-32 for the game, including a 44-23 edge in shots on goal. Tufts also added a big 54-28 advantage on ground balls, while going 3-for-5 with the extra man Saturday.
Middlebury was paced by the four goals and one assist from Logan White, as he was the lone Panther with multiple goals. Hayden Kern made 19 saves as well for Middlebury in net.
