CRANSTON, RI (April 5, 2026) – The Tufts University coed sailing team finished seventh in the Fowle Trophy team standings for the New England Open Team Race Championship which concluded on Sunday.
Harvard University won the Fowle Trophy and earns the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) automatic berth into the 2026 Open Team Race National Championship coming up April 23-25 at Tulane University. Tufts and other teams from the region will look to earn at-large national berths, which will be announced soon. A total of 10 at-large berths nationwide will be awarded to the national championship event.
On Sunday, Tufts was part of a top-eight round robin at the NEISA Team Race Championship. The Jumbos raced six times today and won two (Roger Williams and Boston College), while losing four (Harvard, Coast Guard, Rhode Island and Dartmouth).
With a 7-11 record overall after two rounds (5-7 in Saturday's first round), Tufts was not among the top six teams that advanced to a third round on Sunday.

Ben Mueller with sophomore crew
Kate Castleberry (all six races), freshman skipper
Pearse Dowd with junior crew
Cody Lamoreux (four races), Dowd skippering with junior crew
Sean Beaver (two races), junior skipper
Wyatt Bischoff with Beaver (four races) and sophomore skipper
Oliver Keeves with Lamoreux (two races).
This was the second straight year that Tufts was seventh at the New England Open Team Race Championship.
The Jumbos have the Thompson Trophy Team Race hosted by Coast Guard on the schedule for next weekend (April 11-12).
