WORCESTER, MA (May 2, 2026) -- The Tufts University men's rowing team earned the points trophy title Saturday at the 2026 New England Rowing Championships, hosting on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester.
Tufts finished the day Saturday with 103 total points, eclipsing Trinity College and its 86.50 and Wesleyan University with its 86 points.
In the first varsity, Tufts rowed in the third heat of the day and rowed to a time of 6:20.344, second behind MIT to earn a spot in the grand final later in the day. Tufts would finish fifth in the first varsity in the last men's race of the day, rowing to a time of 5:55.091. The time was just over five seconds behind Trinity College, which won with a 5:49.483.
The 2V8+ won its opening heat of the day with a 6:05.005 to barely edge both Colby College and Bates College. Once in the grand final, Tufts rowed to a second-place finish, just a second behind Trinity with a time of 6:09.929.
Tufts would earn the title in the third varsity on Saturday, as the Jumbos won by less than three seconds in their first heat with a time of 6:18.719. In the grand final, Tufts rowed by Trinity by nearly three seconds to pick up the crown.
In the fourth varsity, Tufts took down third place with a 6:58.104, 15 seconds behind Wesleyan.
Tufts also competed a pair of fours, as the \ men's first varsity four finished second overall behind Bowdoin College and their 7:46.64, as Tufts crossed the line in 7:53.002. In the second varsity four, Tufts cruised to a 30-second win.
The Jumbos will compete at the National Invitational Rowing Championships next Sunday, May 10, once again at Lake Quinsigamond. The regatta will also serve as the NESCAC Championships for all conference teams in attendence.
