WILLIAMSTOWN / NORTH EASTON, MA (May 8, 2026) – Sophomore
Lauren Zipoli had a strong start in the heptathlon at Williams College's F.I.R.E. Meet on Friday, when the Tufts University women's track & field team was also in action at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships hosted by Stonehill College.
Zipoli accumulated 2865 points in four events of the heptathlon at Williams on Friday to place third out of 14 competitors so far. She was first among the multi-athletes in both the 100-meter hurdles (14.75) and the 200 meters (25.41). She scored 875 points and 850 points in those events, respectively. She also had Tufts' best mark of the season in the high jump, as part of the heptathlon, clearing 1.59m (5'2 ½"). The multi-event finishes on Saturday with the long jump, javelin throw and 800 meters.
Among six Jumbo entries in the 5000 meters race at Williams on Friday, senior
Liz Donahue was the top finisher with a 17:20.36 time for 12th place out of 49 runners. Junior
Deirdre Flanagan had her PR in the race, a 17:26.53 that placed her just outside of the Tufts all-time top 10 in the event. Sophomore
Zoe Margolies was the lone Jumbo entry for the 10,000 meters, finishing seventh with a 36:34.78 time.
A pair of Jumbos were in the javelin throw at Williams. Junior
Jackie Wells was third in the event with a 39.29m (128'11") best launch. First-year
Isabella Romero placed 12th (33.17m – 108'10").
Over at the NEICAAA meet, Tufts junior
Ceci LaBarge scored in the hammer throw. Her best distance of 50.14m (164'6") was fourth at the meet, which features New England Division I, II and III teams.
Tufts will continue at both competitions on Saturday, with a start time of 10 AM at each.
