CAMBRIDGE, MA (September 19, 2026) -- The Tufts University women's tennis team competed in the second of three days at the 2026 MIT Invitational Saturday afternoon, and junior
Nadia Khera and
Ryan Wuhrman each moved into their consolation finals on Sunday with wins Saturday.
In the women's open singles' TIM draw, Khera defeated Willow Assante-LaBash 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals to move into the finals on Sunday against Chloe Zeng of MIT.
Wuhrman knocked off Gabrielle Shiao 7-5, 6-2 in straight sets to move into the consolation semifinals later in the afternoon Saturday. Wuhrman then outlasted Lillian Moldenhauer of Bowdoin College 7-6 (9), 6-4 to advance to the consolation final. She will battle Ruzgar Iscen of Amherst Sunday in the final.
In the main draw,
Melanie Woodbury topped Katie Driscoll in the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (5) scoreline in a super tiebreaker to move into the semifinals. In the semis, Woodbury's run through the top draw was halted with a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Caroline Stuhlfaut of Bowdoin College.
Junior
Athena Li was also a winner in the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Claire Zhou from MIT. In the semifinals, Li would fall to the tournament's top seed Tina She 6-1, 6-0.
Sophomore
Kyra McCandless also competed in the main draw on Saturday, dropping a 6-2, 7-6 (2) decision in the quarterfinals. In doubles' play, McCandless and
Alyssa Khou tested top-seed Lily Dounchis and She but eventually fell 8-6.
In consolation action,
Brooklyn Bindas and Li edged Shiao and Greta Stechschulte 8-7 (2) in the quarterfinals. The duo then knocked off Stuhlfaut and Assante-LaBash 8-6 in the semifinals to move into the consolation finals.
In the TIM doubles' draw, McCandless and Khou dropped down and defeated Moldenhauer and Julia Ross of Bowdoin 8-6 to advance into the final Sunday. They will take on Sophia Yang and Zhou of MIT.
The third and final day of play starts at 10:00 a.m. at DuPont Tennis Courts in Cambridge.
