MEDFORD, MA (September 20, 2026) -- Tufts University junior Maren Jones scored in the 80th minute to level the contest with Trinity College, as the No. 2 Jumbos came away with a 1-1 draw in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action from Bello Field.

The first half was controlled mostly by the Jumbos (3-0-2, 2-0-2 NESCAC), holding a big 12-2 edge in shots while posting a 6-0 edge in corner kicks. The first great chance for the Jumbos came in the 24th minute, as Jones had an attempt saved by Zoe Tamborello. In the 36th minute, Tufts had a scramble in front of goal off of a corner kick, but a shot by senior Reese Birch was stopped off the line by a Bantam defender. 

The Jumbos continued ot press, but could not lift the lid on the scoring in the first half as the game went to the halftime intermission scoreless. 

In the second half, Trinity started to find its footing in the game and picked up a foul in the box in the 61st minute to earn a penalty kick. The ensuing penalty was slotted home by Kyra Charette to put the Bantams ahead 1-0. 

From that point, Tufts would regain control of the game and found an equalizer in the 80th minute off of the foot of Jones. The junior midfielder won a clearance back right to junior Audrey Cromett, who headed a pass into the path of a charging Jones. In alone on net, Jones one-timed the shot home for her second goal of the season. 

Tufts had one last gasp to score a winner but a Birch shot was stopped as both teams split the points. 

The Jumbos outshot Trinity 18-7 for the game, earning a 9-1 edge in corner kicks for the game. Birch led all players with four shots, and Jones added three including two on goal. Jumbo junior Greta Steege made two saves between the pipes, while Tamborello stopped four shots for Trinity. 

Tufts also held a 66%-34% edge in possession for the game. 

The Jumbos will now travel to Cambridge, MA for a big non-conference game with No. 5 MIT Friday at 6 p.m. September 25.
