Biography

2016 (Senior): Was a captain of the team that won the NESCAC Championship for the first time since 2009 and finished with a 19-3 record, advancing to the NCAA Championship game where they fell to Messiah in penalty strokes...fighting off injury she appeared in 14 games, making four starts...returned from a back injury for the stretch run and scored the game-winning goal in the 60th minute during a 1-0 triumph over Salisbury in the Final Four of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Nov. 19 in Geneva, New York...tied for 19th in program history in career points with 48 (22 goals, four assists), while going 4-2 in the NCAA Division III Tournament...finished season with two goals, one assist and five points...found the back of the net in a 6-2 season-opening victory at Colby on Sept. 10...picked up an assist during a 2-1 triumph at Babson on Sept. 13.

2015 (Junior): Started all 17 games as a junior captain this season, scoring a team-leading ten goals for a team-leading 20 points…scored once in a 4-2 win over Trinity…tallied two goals in a 4-2 win over UMass-Dartmouth…matched her season-high with two goals in a 5-0 win over Gordon…in a 6-1 win over Hamilton she added two goals…scored twice in a 4-3 setback to Bowdoin…scored once in a 2-0 NESCAC Tournament win over Trinity.

2014 (Sophomore): Started all 17 games during the Jumbo’s 2014 campaign and was the Jumbos leading scorer with nine goals…was a Longstreth / NFHCA All-Region Second Team selection…had a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over Bates to open up the season…scored against Babson in a 3-0 win…tallied a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Colby…provided one goal in a 4-0 win over Wesleyan…scored one goal and took six shots against UMass-Dartmouth…scored the game winning goal in a 2-1 win over Amherst…scored the lone goal in a 3-1 loss to Trinity…was the only Jumbo to score in a 2-1 win over Wellesley, the two goals were a season-high for Zarrella.

2013 (Freshman): Played in twelve games for the Jumbos during the season, scoring once…scored her first collegiate goal in a 7-1 win over University of New England.

Before Tufts:  Played field hockey, ice hockey and softball at Leominster High School…was the 2013 co-player of the league for the Mid-Wach A League…was a two time league all star…was selected to the Best of 60 Team in 2013…was a field hockey captain and two-time softball captain…was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Daughter of Domenic and Deidra….has two sisters, Bianca (23) and Gianvanna (16) and one brother, Zachary (18)...sister, Bianca, played field hockey at Vassar.
