Before Tufts: Was on the cross country, track and equestrian teams at Jones College Prep...was a varsity runner for all four years of high school...placed All-City for three years in cross country and placed All-Section for four years in track...was a state qualifier in track...member of the National Honor Society...was an honor roll student all eight semesters.

Personal: Daughter of Julie James and Dan Nelson...uncle, David, was in the 1996 Olympic marathon trials.
