2019 (Junior): Was a member of the Jumbo team that finished the season with a 31-11 record, winning the program's sixth NESCAC Championship and advancing to the Championship Round of the NCAA Regional at Cortland...transitioned to shortstop and played in all 42 games...tied for the team high in at-bats with 159...batted .358 after tallying a team-high 57 hits...added 27 RBI while crossing the plate 32 times...only committed seven errors on 151 total chances for a .954 fielding percentage...went 6-for-7 with six RBI and five runs in a win over Salem State...named to the NESCAC All-Conference First Team.
2018 (Sophomore): Earned the starting job at second base during the season...Exploded for five rbis while going 3 for 4 with three runs scored in a victory against Keene State...had three hits and scored twice in a NESCAC Tournament elimination game win over Wesleyan...Three rbis in the Jumbos' NESCAC Tournament-opening victory against the Cardinals...went 2 for 4 with three rbis when Tufts clinched NESCAC East pennant with win at Bates.
2017 (Freshman): Varinos as a hitter played in 12 games batting .190 with an OBP of .346..went 2-5 with 2 runs scored and a walk in win versus Apprentice School...as a pitcher, had 2-0 record throwing 18.1 innings surrendering 15 hits with an ERA of 2.45...threw 8.1 innings in win versus Middlebury picking up 7 strikeouts and giving up only 2 earned runs, 6 hits and 4 walks.
Before Tufts: Was on the baseball team at Masconomet Regional High School...was a four-year starter and two-time Cape Ann League MVP selection...was a two-time Boston Herald All-Scholastic honoree...was a two-time Salem News All-Star...named the 2015 Boston Globe Division 2 Player of the Year...was on the team that won the state championship in 2014...was a two-time captain...was on the honor roll all four years of high school...graduated in the top 5% of his class...earned first place at the science fair his freshman year.
Personal: Son of Frank and Tina...has three siblings, Anastas (26), Speros (24) and Sophia (17)...brother, Speros, was also on the baseball team at Tufts.
