Jay Civetti

Jay Civetti finished the 2024 season for his 14th year at the helm of the Jumbo football program, as he has turned around a program during his tenure as head coach. Civetti has been part of seven winning seasons as head coach of the Jumbos, including three seven-win campaigns in 2016, 2018 and 2024. The squad also picked up six wins in both the 2015, 2022 and 2023 seasons, and looks poised to battle for the team's first NESCAC title.

Also during his tenure, Mike Pedrini, a three-year captain from 2019-21, and Michael Berluti '25 each earned the prestigious Swede Nelson Award from the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston for exemplifying leadership and sportsmanship to an outstanding degree. Among the many community service organizations that the Jumbos support are the annual Tufts Reading Program with Brooks Elementary School in Medford, the Somerville Homeless Coalition, the American Cancer Society, Team IMPACT, Boston Food Bank, Special Olympics, and the Alzheimer’s Association.

Civetti was presented the Murray Lewis Award by the Boston Chapter of the Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials in 2018. The honor is bestowed upon an individual who has made a positive contribution to New England football. Coach Civetti is currently serving as the 1st Vice President of the Jack Grinold Eastern Massachusetts chapter of the National Football Foundation.
