Stephen Haladyna

Former Jumbo Stephen Haladyna is in his second season on the Tufts coaching staff.

In his first season as an assistant coach (2019-20), "Hal" helped direct the Jumbos to a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) championship. The team advanced to the NCAA "Sweet 16" before the tournament was canceled due to COVID. The Jumbos finished with a 23-6 record - tying  the school mark for victories - and featured NESCAC Player of the Year Luke Rogers.

A 2016 Tufts graduate, Haladyna was a two-year captain of the Jumbos. As a senior in 2015-16 he helped lead a Tufts team that made a run to the NCAA "Elite Eight." He was also a team captain for the 2014-15 season as a junior. A 1,000-point scorer for the Jumbos, his 126 three-pointers are among the top 15 in program history.

Haladyna spent three years (June 2016 to September 2019) in the NBA's Referee Development Program, supporting the Referee and Basketball Operations Departments of the NBA in various rotations while training to become a NBA G-League referee.

A native of South Hamilton, Massachusetts who attended St. John's Prep, Haladyna graduated from Tufts with a degree in psychology.
