Danny Murphy

Danny Murphy, an All-American player for the Jumbos who graduated from Tufts in 2019, is in his second year on head coach Casey D'Annolfo's staff.

During the 2020 season that was cut short by COVID, Murphy worked with a Tufts offense that scored 100 goals in its four games. Tufts' 25 goals per game led Division III for the abbreviated season. Sophomore attack Mac Bredahl of the Jumbos was named Inside Lacrosse's 2020 Breakout Player of the Year for DIII. Five offensive players received Inside Lacrosse's Maverik DIII Media All-American honors for the 2020 season.

Murphy scored 290 points (150 goals, 140 assists) in 63 career games with the Jumbos from 2016-19 to rank fourth on the program's all-time scoring list. His 150 goals is tied for third and his 140 assists are fourth all-time. His 100-point season (45g, 55a) in 2018 was the sixth in Jumbo history. He was a team captain in 2019 and played on three conference championship teams. He was a freshman on the 2016 Tufts team that played in the NCAA championship game.

A United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American three times, Murphy was also a USILA Scholar All-American in 2019. He was selected to the New England Small College Athletic Conference first team three straight years and was also a three-time New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Assocation honoree.

Originally from Hauppauge, New York, Murphy graduated from Tufts with a degree in political science.
