One of the most successful coaches in the nation during her now 13-year tenure at Tufts after starting in 2014, Courtney Shute has helped continue Tufts run of NCAA Tournament appearances during her time at Tufts. Helping the squad to back-to-back NCAA Championships games in 2021 and 2022 as well as in 2025, Shute has won over 76 percent of the games while in charge of the Jumbos. Shute has posted winning seasons in every year she's been in charge of the Jumbos, while posting 19 win seasons in 2019 and 2022 and a program-record 21 wins in 2025. The sixth head coach in program history, Shute also serves as the DEI Coordinator at Tufts.

  • 2004 graduate of Fayetteville-Manlius HS
  • 2008 graduate of Division I Cornell University
  • All-time leading scorer at Cornell, scoring 122 goals and 91 assists
  • 2018 Cornell University Hall of Fame inductee
  • IWLCA All-American
  • 3-time IWLCA All-Region pick, while earning All-Ivy League four times
  • Earned her degree in applied economics and management
  • Master's of Science from Cortland in Sports Management in 2013
  • Married to wife Sarah, who is the head field hockey coach at MIT
  • Lives in Waltham, MA
  • Has two children, son Bodhi and daughter Sawyer
